The face of welfare in Malaysia is changing. We are getting to be a more caring society. Given below is information on the assistance you can give the public as we strive for a better community.
If you find families in difficulties, give them a helping hand.
These are some of the benefits for Malaysian citizens who are in need.
a. Bantuan Orang tua – Help for the aged
b. Bantuan Kanak kanak – Help for the children
c. Bantuan AM – General assistance
Elaun Pekerja Cacat (Gaji di bawah RM 1200)_- Even working people with a disability card (OKU Card) can receive family assistance if salary is below RM 1200
Bantuan OKU tidak Berupaya kerja (RM 700 Individu) – If it is an individual, assistance is also given if their salary is below RM 700 or can be considered in deserving cases if income is below RM 1000.00.
OKU Mental – Mentally challenged person. Seek treatment for them and get them an OKU card for mental disabilities and they can also receive financial assistance to survive.
Bantuan Penjagaan Pesakit terlantar/OKU Terlantan Pendapatan isi rumah di bawah RM 3000.00
- If a home has a crippled or disabled bedridden person, they can also seek financial assistance if the total family income is below RM3000.00.
How do you go about helping the community with such cases. I am surprised, it is so simple and easy.
This is what needs to be done.
a. The affected persons or families can go directly to the nearest welfare office and fill in a basic form with name, IC NO and address.
For Daerah MPSJ which covers Puchong, Serdang, Sri Kembangan and Subang Jaya, the address is Pejabat Kebajikan Masyarakat NO. 12 Jalan SS 15/4, subang Jaya Tel : 56343095. You can show them the way or guide them with info.
b. For Daerah Petaling Jaya under the area of MBPJ covering all zones of Petaling Jaya, Kelana Jaya, Damansara Utama etc Pejabat Kebajikan Masyarakat Daerah Petaling, Tingkat Bawah, Kompleks Daerah Petaling, . No 9 Jalan SS 16/1, 47500 Subang Jaya Tel : 56335728
c. For Shah Alam areas covered by Pejabat Kebajikan Masyarakat, Tingkat 23 Bangunan Darul Ehsan, 3 Jalan Indah, Shah Alam . Tel :55102015 These officers are so friendly and willing to assist, why not you.
Another way to assist the needy is via registered associations, RA’s or Community clubs. All you have to do is just type the name address and IC No of the persons or families affected within your area and submit these names on your letterhead to the nearest Pejabat Kebajikan Masyarakat for their attention. These are then logged in a register for attention.
The Pejabat Kebajikan Masyarakat will then send out their investigators to visit the individuals or the families to assess the quantum of assistance needed as well as the level of poverty or status of the OKU etc.. This is then followed up by another team which will then disburse the funds to those needy people to assist them to cope with life. It is a life long process.
This is the citizens tax money being effectively used to help those within the Community and in need. Unfortunately many are ignorant on where to seek assistance or even how. Let’s give these less fortunate citizens a helping hand and show them we care.
I only mentioned 3 areas, the welfare department is all over the states of Malaysia practically within the areas of every Pejabat Daerah and even in every Majlis Daerah throughout the country. Just look at their website www.jkm.gov.my and start the assistance process.
